NSS Hindu College, Changanacherry, the Saraswathy Kshethram in the land of Anchuvilakku, stands tall among the premiere academic institutions of Kerala.Inspired and founded by Shri Mannathu Padmanabhan, it is beacon of light to thousands of students in and around Changanacherry. From a humble beginning it has grown into an impressive edifice in a short span of time.

Established in 1947, it is one of the largest colleges under Mahatma Gandhi University. It runs 14 graduate, 11 post graduate and 3 add-on courses. Three research departments in the college add to the pursuit of academic excellence. The college, with 141 teachers, 79 non teaching staff and 2200 students, is striving to maintain the high profile it has earned. The college is very ably assisted, by the management, in the endeavors to realize its cherished mission and vision.

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Re-accredited the Institution at B++ level in 2006. Today, even after several years of establishment, NSS College is on its path of lighting the candle of knowledge and wisdom to the upcoming generations adding sense to its vision - 'Thamaso Ma Jyothirgamaya'.

NSS HINDU COLLEGE GETS Rs 1CRORE 40 LAKHS AS UGC GRANT

The University Grants Commission has sanctioned NSS Hindu College a grant of Rs 1Crore and 40 lakhs under XI plan for general development and various schemes.

 A sum of Rs 75 lakhs was awarded under the general development scheme and Rs 65.50 lakhs under merged scheme of the UGC. In the general development scheme, a grant of Rs 17 lakhs was sanctioned under the undergraduate development programme and

Rs 58.00  lakhs for development of 11 postgraduate departments viz Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, English, Malayalam, Hindi, Economics, History, Politics and Commerce.

Under the merged scheme, a grant of Rs 65.50 lakhs is sanctioned for -the improvement of facilities in existing premises, rejuvenation of infrastructure, for students belonging to SC/ST/OBC and minorities, enhancement of initiative for capacity building in the college, establishment of UGC- Network Resource centre, equal opportunity centre in the college, remedial coaching for SC/ST/OBC and minorities , coaching for NET/SET for SC/ST/OBC and minorities, coaching classes for entry in services for SC/ST/OBC and minorities, higher education for persons with special needs and Career and counseling cell .

SARGOTSAVAM-09

 SARGOTSAVAM-09 the College Arts Festival was inaugurated by the famous music directors Bernie-Ignatius  at 10.30am on the 16th. The competitions commenced at 5 different venues in the college.

The Department of Chemistry organised an International Seminar "Towards A Green and Cool Earth"- Talks on Global Warming" on 23rd February 2010 in the College Seminar Hall. The main speakers were Dr.Risa Morimoto,Professor of Strategy,Toulouse Business School,France and Dr.S.Ogola, Environmental Scientist,University of Venda,South Africa.                            

 PG Department of Hindi

The PG and Research Department of Hindi conducted a Two Day National Seminar on “ Sree Vishnu Prabhakars Literary Spirit-An evaluation” with the assisstance of The Central Institute of Hindi,Mysore Centre on the 8th and 9th February,2010. Many literary laureates from inside and outside Kerala participated in the Seminar.The Seminar was inaugurated by Prof.R.Prasanna Kumar Secretary,NSS Colleges’ Central Committee. The keynote address was made by Prof.Thankamani Amma, Dean,Faculty of Oriental Studies,University of Kerala and the Introductory talk was given by Dr.M.Gnanam,Regional Director,Central Hindi Institute,Mysore.Principal Dr.C.R.Suseela Devi offered felicitations.

The Valedictory Function was inauguratedby Dr.N.Raveendranath,Former PVC,MG University. Principal Dr.C.R.Suseela Devi presided over the function. Prof. Sreekumari Pillai, HOD,Hindi Department made an assessment of the Seminar.Dr.K.V Narayana Kurup was the convenor of the Seminar.

Dr.Jayaprakash,HOD,YuvarajCollege,Mysore,Prof.Narayan Prasad,Govt.ScienceCollege,Hassan,Dr.Pallav Vishnu,Sri.Arvind Yadav,MG University of Hindi,Vardha and Dr.C.S.Rajan,former Director Sree Sankara University,Kalady presented papers in the Seminar.

 

 
Nair Service Society
The Nair Service Society which took root in the mind of the legendary Sri Mannath Padmanabhan, originally aimed at the upliftment of Nair youth at a time when they were struggling against strong societal fluctuations. Now the society has a chain of educational institutions to show the path of light to ordinary men in their search for knowledge and development.
