Highlights    

The Dept. is equipped with a wide range of current books, periodicals and journals in the central library. It owns two computer labs with Internet facility in addition to Electronics and General labs. Excellent coaching is given through LCD, OHP and through Visual media. Student projects are based on new trends with international standards.

The extension programmes of the Department include, an 'Orientation course in Basic Physics' for Higher Secondary students from nearby schools and Workshop for Higher Secondary Teachers. A series of seminars both National and International including C.V Raman day are celebrated every year with student participation. World Year of Physics-2005 was celebrated with the joint participation of nearby colleges.

Special care is given for extra curricular activities of the students. Sri S. Praveen Kumar, a Second year BSc student was selected for Youth Exchange Programme (NCC) of the Govt. of India to visit U K. Kum. Anupama.S.Pillai of final year BSc (2001-2002) was the Kalathilakam   of M.G.University,.Kum. Induresmi.C.T   (MSc-2004 batch ) was the captain of M.G University   Ball Batminton   Team which   won the All India Championship in the year 2004. Several students got placements at Government and private level.

The Dept. promotes student manuscript magazine for all classes to tap the talented youths and publishes a half yearly Journal called 'Spectra'. Special coaching is given for UGC NET Examination. The Dept. is a centre for National Graduate Physics Exam for BSc students conducted by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers.

• The Department organises the 'C V Raman Day' every year and conducts a seminar on his contributions.
• A seminar and exhibition on Albert Einstein was conducted in association with Breakthrough Science Society on November 8th and 9th 2005.
• Seminar on Macro Laser's to Micro Laser's. Talk by Dr.N.V.Unnikrishnan, M.G.University, Kottayam.
