PROFILE:
In accordance with the mission of the college to provide quality education and to motivate achievement of excellence in every field of life, the department of physics with its dedicated faculty creates scholars capable for transforming the society.
Ever since its inception in the year 1960, the Department of Physics produces commendable results. It has a student strength of 24 for BSc course It became a PG department in the year 1998 with a student strength of 12. Out of the 65 students in the UG progranmme 70% are from the rural area and out of 27 students in the PG programme 90% are from rural areas.
The present faculty comprises of 9 teachers out of which 2 have PhD, 3 have M.Phil.Two teachers were awarded Post Doctoral Fellowship (Dr. K. Unnikrishnan and Dr. B. Rajesh) and 2 are Research Scholars. The Department has produced 15 research papers. There are two on going Research Projects funded by the UGC. All faculty members are keen to be updated with the participation in Refresher courses, seminars and workshops.
