SPORTS NEWS 2009-2010 The College Cricket team won the MG University South Zone Cricket Champioship defeating SB College Changanacherry in the final played at CMS College,Kottayam. The College Womens Badminton Team won the Inter Collegiate Champioship held at our College.The Mens team finished runners up to SNM College, Maliankara.The Mens team were runners up in the 2010 Bertholomew trophy Ball Badminton Tournament held at SH College,Tevara. They went down fighting to Sree Kerala Varma College,Trissur in the finals. The Annual Atheletic Meet was held on 28th of January 2010.The Principal Dr.CR Suseela Devi inaugurated the meet.Tagore house won the team championship. Nethaji House,Gandhi House,Nehru House and came 2nd,3rd and 4th respectively.Nijith Abraham IBcom (Tagore House)and Nimmi 1BA Economics (Netaji House) won the individual championship in the Boys and Girls section. 2008-09 The College Cricket Team put up a splendid show to win the MG University Cricket Championship for Men held at the MG University campus stadium.The team defeated reputed teams from Ernakulam to win the trophy for the 2nd time. The Men and Women Ball Badminton teams are the MG University Champions for the last 6 years.Many of our players have been selected to the University Ball Badminton team. The College finished Runners up in the MG University Shuttle Badminton Tournament held at Travancore Club,Tiruvalla. The team was captained by Toji of II MA Economics.He was selected to the University Shuttle Badminton team which took part in the South zone champioship at Kuvempu and the All India championship at Dibrugar,Assam. The college finished Third in the South Zone Inter-collegiate Cricket Tournament at CMS College,Kottayam. The team is being led by Jeevan Gangadharan of III BCom. The Annual Atheletic Meet was held on 10th of December 2008.The Principal Prof C.Chandran inaugurated the meet.Tagore house won the team championship. Nethaji House,Nehru House and Gandhi House came 2nd,3rd and 4th respectively.Nijith Abraham IBcom (Tagore House)and Manju IBA History (Nehru House) became the individual champions in the Boys and Girls section. |
