Food Science and Quality Control

The Department was established in the year 1995 and was offered as a UGC-sponsored self-financing UG course. In 2014 the course became an aided one. The course curriculum for Food Science and Quality Control is prepared as a unique job-oriented program. It is the study of all technical aspects of food. Since it is a multi-disciplinary program, it combines principles from disciplines like nutrition, chemistry, microbiology, engineering, management, entrepreneurship, etc. The students who successfully complete the course have a wide range of opportunities as Quality controllers, Product Developers, Production Supervisors, Production Managers, Nutritionists, etc. in various multinational companies in India and abroad. Through these years, the Department of Food Science and Quality Control has generated entrepreneurs, officers in government food regional laboratories under the Food Safety Commissionerate, and employees in food industries. The Department has secured a high pass percentage with more than 10 ranks since its inception.
