Food Science

The department was established in the year 1995 which offered a UGC sponsored self financing UG course. In the year 2014 the course became an aided one. The course curriculum for FS & QC is prepared as a unique job oriented program.
FS & QC is the study of all technical aspects of food. Since it is a multi-disciplinary program, it combines principle from disciplines like nutrition, chemistry, microbiology, engineering, management, entrepreneurship etc.
To produce high calibre Food Science graduates who will be well equipped through the training they receive, to support the rapid changes in food industries.
The students who successfully complete the course have a wide range of opportunities as Quality Controller, Product developer, Production supervisor, Production Manager, Nutritionist etc. in various multi-national companies in India and abroad. Through these years, the Department of Food Science and Quality Control have generated entrepreneurs, officers in government food regional laboratories under the Food Safety Commissionerate and employees in food industries.
The department has secured high pass percentage with more than 10 ranks since its inception.
